Umm Ar-Rasas

Today we thought we should go down to the Dead Sea and look for some nice spots to watch. As usual we took the wrong way (forgot the map, also as usual) and ended up in a completely other place which turned out to be really interesting in the end.
We thought we were really lost when we suddenly saw the sign of Umm Ar-Rasas. The area has been restored by EU for 6 million Euros. The Roman garrison town had about 5000 inhabitants and fifteen churches. Two of them were excavated and they had found extremely beautiful mosaic floors. Probably have the rest of churches also mosaic floors, but are not yet excavated.

Here you can see mosaic showing the churches in Philadelpia, the present Amman, and Madaba, a town with famouse mosaics not far from Amman.
