Don't look now, Elin!
I have made this trousers to Elin. The size is for one year, and that's exactly her age, but they look very big. There are a lot of space for eating "pepparkakor" the whole Christmas!

Fish cushion

Well, finally the fish is finished. I had a great time making it, but I'm not sure I want a fish in my sofa...!

Palestinian embroderi

Everywhere here in Jordan you can find marvelos dresses decorated with cross stitch in many colors. The patterns come from different parts of Jordan and Palestine. If you don't want a dress maybe a pillow to your sofa would be nice.

I have been looking around in many shops to find the ultimate pillow! But then I decided to try to make one by myself. So I bought a big, heavy book filled with beautiful embrodery patterns ......and a lot of explaining text....all in Arabic!

I have joined a new sewing group. They are making art quilts right now. Nothing I have done before.
Up till now not much sewing, more gluing. Rather fun actually to find small pieces of fabric that can be put together. Nothing is wrong I guess cause a fish can be in many ways!

Baby quilt

The last days I have been working on a baby quilt. So what do you think, Fredrik and Linda?
Not finished yet, still much work to do.

Some of the sheep looks more like camels, maybe influenced by the country.

Waiting

It's twenty minutes after midnight and while I’m up waiting for Bo to come back from Cairo, I’m finishing the ”toy pocket” to Elin for Christmas.

Sewing atelier

I have turned the kitchen to an sewing atelier. It's a mess with fabric, threads, ,patterns and finished blocks everywhere.

I will make 48 different blocks in grey and black and then put them together in a pattern. Well, when I have done them all I can start puzzle!

I put the first twelve together like this. Is it a good idea? What do you think? Will it be to dull? How about a frame in something more exiting like orange or green?

Another baby dress

Finished another dress to Elin while I was waiting for the man to come and repair my washing machine for the third time in a month!

Needle case for Melissa

My friend Melissa said that she needed a bag for her knitting needles. She had found a pattern in a book and asked me if I could make it for her. Of course I wanted to do that!

The pattern is very simple with room for both tiny needles and bigger bamboo needles. It's made with a flap that holds the needles in place when you roll it together.

The fabric comes from IKEA! The colorful one is my former kitchen curtain in Cairo!

Today I have finished a little outfit to Elin. It’s a t-shirt with an applique hart and a pair of small booties. I found the pattern to the shoes at www.homespun-threads.com.

Fundraising bazaars

In about one month two charity fundraising bazaars are coming up here in Amman. “With the world economy in bits there is even more need this year to offer assistance to the very many Jordanian citizens who are not as fortunate as many of us", one appeal says.
I’m trying to contribute to one of the bazaars by offering some small things I have made. It’s small make up bags with pocket tissue holders. At the other bazaar we are trying to sell the Black Iris quilt.

Log cabin quilt

I’m just about to finish a lap quilt in beige and brown colours. It’s made in a pattern called “log cabin”. The pattern is built like a square with one light corner and one dark corner. In the middle there is a piece in a contrast colour. The two blocks are slightly different and I made twelve of each.

Now started the fun part, I laid them on the floor in different patterns. I was surprised to see that some looked like a cemetery with big black crosses! After asking some friends for advice I decided which one I should take. And then I started to sew the twenty-four pieces together.I had a lot of help from my quilt group. They showed me how to make the quilt and I learned new words like batting, backing and binding (with bias!). And now the quilt is almost finished and I have had a great time making it!

The Black Iris Quilt

The work with the quilt to the bazaar in May is in progress. After choosing patterns and fabrics, some of us made two pieces each with an appliqué iris.Some of the other ladies put everything together. Now you can get an idea of how it will look like when it’s finished. We will make it as a wall hanging or you can use it as a lap quilt in the sofa a chilly night.

Baby dress

Today I finished the dress for the little girl upstairs. She will soon have her first birthday.
Suddenly we have had a couple of days of summer. I wonder if that means that the winter is gone and what happened to spring …. But I think there will be a setback.

Purses to put things in.

I do lots of sewing these days. It is always rather small, silly projects. For the moment I ‘m making small pursers or holders to put things in.

My favourites are my IPod cover and my passport cover.

Purses for money and make up stuff.

Som more storage things.

One purse for my cell phone and IPod cables and one for my hearing aid batteries.

I better hurry up tomorrow´s (well soon) Christmas Day!

I´m making a baby boy quilt for Johans and AnnaKarins new baby. And today before we went to the gym I had some hours to work with it.
The baby girl quilt is finished. But it´s good to be prepered for both a girl or a boy!

Tonight we are leaving for Cairo. We will stay there until Thursday. It´s fun to come back to Cairo again. Now I have lots of places to discover and new ones to investigate.
