Mezze

During the weekend we went to Madaba for lunch. Of course we ordered Mezze! You can order from a huge vary of warm and cold dishes. These are our favorites!

Hummus, of course!

Together with the warm bread that was called aisch in Egypt.

It's really jummy!

Then we must have Tabboule. It's parsley, bulgur, tomatoes, sesame seeds, garlic and lemon.

Then comes Fattosh which is a normal salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and fried pieces of bread.

And goat cheese salad with thyme!

Pomelo salad

Someone brought a plastic bag full of pomelos to our last sewing meeting. She had picked them in her garden and said it was free to take as many as you wanted. I was of course quick to grab one!
On my way back home I stopped to buy a pomegranade, cause I remembered I had seen some recipe with these fruits.
July helped me and showed me how to "open" the fruits!

July suggested to eat the salad with some olive oil and salt, but I think I prefer it "natural". It tasted delicious.

A view and Chicken Adobo

I went for visit to a new friend who lives outside Amman. This is her view from the entrance of the house! A view to die for!
Today it was a bit of heat haze and the thermometer in the car showed 38 degrees!
When I came home Julie came with some home made food for me. It was Filipino Adobo Chicken, which I never had tasted before. And it was really delicious! I looked up the recipe on the net. And it was thousands of them, and I had never heard about it!!!!

Spagetti bolongese( no recipe needed)

Bo is back from Bagdad, hamdulille, and he had time for a quick meal before he left for Beirut.
Well, we will not get tired off each other, that’s for sure!

Cinnamons....again!

It as been a day with sorting all papers and invoices that lies around everywhere. Or maybe it’s only in our home …?
Well, Bo did most of the work. I finished the “crazy “bag and we had some lovely Cinnamons with coffee on the balcony.
I’m glad Idh is over now; it has been too many cakes the last days.

Yesterday we bought fresh fruit grown here in Jordan.
And yes, they tasted lovely!

Cookie problem?

For two days my computer has told me that I have a Javascript and cookie problem. How come my computer knows that? ;)

PB&J sandwich.

I always have been wondering how it would taste. In cartons, books and movies I have heard about people eating it for breakfast, lunch or between meals.
Now I was invited to Melissa for a PB&J lunch!
Cut a slice of white bread.

Put peanut butter on half of the slice.

Put jam on the other half.

Just fold it together and eat!
Yummy!

What is this?

What is this and how can I use it? Well I know what it is. A sign in the shop told me. But how can I use them? A nice price to the person who sends me the right answer. And an even nicer price to the one who sends me a recipe!
I think I soon have to change the title of this blog. It’s more about eating than travelling right now!

Lunch

Today we gathered to finish the back and the binding of our quilt.

We all met in Hilda’s house. Hilda’s family owns a restaurant and we had more or less invited our selfs to lunch! That was very clever of us! For the “middle east” food couldn’t taste better than this. I’m not sure of the names on all the dishes, but you can see vine dolmens, hummus, falafel and much more! And at last a home made cheese cake with strawberries!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday, by the way, was a lousy day with terrible headache. Spent the day on the couch, feeling sorry for myself, watching a DVD box with “I, Claudius”. An old favourite! After a while I was happy I was living right now and here and not in caesarean family in the ancient Rome!

Springrolls

Julie taught me yesterday how to make spring rolls. What takes a long time is cutting the vegetables in small tiny pieces. I have to admit that Julie did that. We used carrots, cabbage, green beans, union and garlic and ready made dough. It turned out to be fifty spring rolls! Mine are the chubby, uneven ones!
Most of them ended up in the freezer. But for dinner I just fried some of them in oil and put some ready made spring roll sauce on the top. Do I have to say that they tasted fantastic?

Fruit and vegetables

I past by my favourite fruit and vegetable shop today, on my way to Isabel. The quality is so much better than the products I can find in my dull grocery store.
I bought cauliflower, avocados and some pears. But no strawberries today ….!

Fruit salad

Well, my computer problem is over for this time. It was easy to fix when you knew how to do it, as so many other things in life. This time thanks to Stina in PiteƄ!
The photo is from my lunch with Melissa the other day. The fruit salad was really delicious.

Tea with mint

Here in Jordan, as in many other countries, people have their tea with a couple of fresh mint leaves. Even I use it now. Together with my Christmas gift tea it’s really lovely.
If you haven’t tasted Kusmi Tea yet, run out and get it!

The taste and the scent of the tea are just incredible (even without the mint leaves). I have figured out that the tea comes in different tastes. I got Anastasia with lemon and orange blossom taste.
